Q: Is there any scientific research on homeopathic medicines?
A: An increasing number of scientific studies on homeopathy are being conducted and, in recent years, more than 150 of these studies have been published in medical journals. Clinical research is providing evidence of the efficacy of homeopathic medicines, and basic laboratory research is confirming the biological activity of highly diluted substances and helping the scientific community better understand their mechanism of action.

Q: The indication on the label of the multi-dose tube does not match the symptom for which my physician prescribed it. Why?
A: The same single medicine may be useful for several different conditions. For example, Gelsemium 30C can be indicated for stress or fever; Sepia 30C can be indicated for mood swings or symptoms of hot flashes.
Due to the small size of the container, we print the most common indication for each medicine on the label. Therefore, the condition for which your doctor prescribed the medicine may not be listed on the label.

Q: Can I give homeopathic medicines to my children?
A: Homeopathic medicines can be given to children without risk. As with any over-the-counter medicine, it is advisable to check with a doctor or a pharmacist before treating children younger than 2 years of age.
The dosage is generally the same for adults and children since the activity of homeopathic medicines is not body-mass dependent. See package labeling for specific dosage recommendations.

Q: How frequently can I or should I take homeopathic medicines?
A: Follow the instructions provided by your healthcare professional or on the product label.
When it comes to single medicines packaged in multi-dose tubes, general dosage instructions are 5 pellets 3 times a day.
As a general rule of thumb, when self-medicating, you can increase the frequency when the symptom is sudden and acute, then decrease frequency with improvement. For example, upon twisting your ankle, you can take Arnica pellets every 10 minutes 3 to 4 times a day and then 3 times a day as needed.

Q: How do I know I have selected the right homeopathic medicines?
A: Improvements are usually seen quite rapidly, particularly in acute conditions and when treatment is started at the onset of symptoms. Individual product labels will provide you with more specific information and directions for use.
If symptoms persist or worsen, consult a doctor. Chronic conditions will require the attention of a healthcare provider knowledgeable in homeopathy and may require more time for improvement.

Q: How are homeopathic medicines prescribed?
A: A physician can prescribe homeopathic medicines after diagnosis.
This can include:
-
Simple prescriptions for non-serious pain or illness (cold symptoms, teething discomfort, etc.)
-
Medications prescribed according to recurring symptoms (e.g., pain caused or soothed by motion)
-
Treatment that takes several criteria into account: your current problem or illness, your medical history, any laboratory analyses or X-rays, as well as your reactions to your environment (cold or warm, etc.) your behavior and personality (worrisome, irritable, etc.).

Q: Do homeopathic medicines act quickly?
A: Yes. When used for acute, occasional illnesses, homeopathic medicines can take effect very quickly, especially if they are taken as soon as symptoms appear. For chronic disorders such as asthma, migraines and allergies, longer treatments are needed to see sustained relief.

Q: Can I self-medicate using homeopathic treatments?
A: Because homeopathic medicines can be a fast, reliable, and appropriate solution, in many instances, self-medication may be sufficient for treating acute, non-serious pain or disorders. However, if symptoms continue, you must consult a physician for a precise diagnosis and a suitable course of treatment.

Q: How much alcohol is in homeopathic medicines?
A: Mother tinctures contain alcohol, as do the orally administered drops prepared in an alcohol solution. One hundred drops of 65 percent mother tincture contain 1.026 grams of pure ethanol. In comparison, one glass of 12 percent wine contains 9.5 grams of pure ethanol.
